Paralegal - Billing Associate

Our legal department is seeking a highly-motivated Paralegal to provide support with respect to a broad range of legal matters, with an emphasis on tracking, coding and paying legal expenses via CounselLink.   This role also includes transactional, corporate governance, compliance, litigation and additional administrative matters both in the United States and abroad. The selected candidate will provide support to attorneys and senior paralegals in our corporate offices. Preference is given to candidates with a professional demeanor, strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.  Must possess good judgment, be highly organized, detailed-oriented and have a strong ability to operate independently with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Track, code and pay legal expenses (experience with CounselLink a plus); create and update matters in case management system.  This is a large portion of responsibility for this role.
  • Provide legal support in connection with corporate, commercial, compliance, litigation, and other general legal matters.
  • Coordinate filing of documents and foreign qualifications, business registrations and powers of attorney, obtain apostilles and authentications.
  • Support legal team in handling transactional matters including preparing officer’s certificates and resolutions, obtaining good standing certificates, coordinating with outside counsel to ensure smooth transaction closings, responding to regulatory requests of financing counterparties.
  • Request and upload records to litigation matters; maintain and update matters.
  • Provide support to team members that work on employment matters by gathering employment records, processing settlements and responding to general questions the team has about processes.
  • Other duties as may be needed or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree required, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred; ABA Paralegal Certificate
  • 3-5 Years of experience as a legal assistant and/or paralegal with in-house experience related to the essential duties above.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including familiarity with common legal terminology.
  • Exceptional organization skills, strong self-motivator with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and reprioritize quickly and efficiently; ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization in a positive, collaborative manner.
  • Must be able to uphold highest standards of discretion and confidentiality; exercise good judgment on day-to-day decisions.
